Resources for Research: Abstracts of Title

The Museum has a small collection of Title Abstracts, of varying dates. These will ordinarily recite every change in ownership from the original land grant down to the owner for whom the abstract was prepared, including mortgages, sheriff’s sales, and disputes in probate. Researchers may typically consult these abstracts during regular open hours, or make an appointment to come to the Museum at another time.
